Sharon Worcester is the senior oncology reporter for Medscape Oncology. She has been a medical journalist for nearly three decades, first as a health reporter for the lay press, then as a clinical writer for multiple trade publications. Worcester is co-author of the recently published book The Doctor As The Patient (What's In A Story Publishing) and has received numerous awards for her work. Most recently, she received a Regional Silver Azbee award for impact/investigative journalism for her Medscape piece 'Move Towards Making Extravasations a Reportable Event?' and was named a top 10 finalist for the 2023 NIHCM Trade Journalism Awards for a related investigative article, 'Not Reported: When Radioactive Imaging Agent Leaks Into Tissue.' A graduate of Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she earned a BA in human resources and social services, and the University of Florida, Gainesville, where she earned an MA in mass communications and print journalism, Worcester is currently based in Birmingham, Alabama.
